“The Present” es un documental de aventura premiado en 2023 que narra la historia de Dimitri Poffé, un viajero francés de 34 años que dejó su país natal para emprender un viaje en bicicleta desde Ciudad de México hasta Ushuaia, tras haber dado positivo para la enfermedad de Huntington. La enfermedad de Huntington es una patología neurodegenerativa rara, hereditaria e incurable.
El padre de Dimitri falleció a causa de esta enfermedad hace 20 años, y su hermana lleva 13 años desarrollando los síntomas. Según los estudios médicos, Dimitri debería comenzar a manifestarlos entre los 35 y 40 años.
Durante su travesía por Sudamérica, Dimitri visita investigadores, asociaciones y personas afectadas por la enfermedad, con el objetivo de crear conciencia y transmitir un mensaje de esperanza.

“The Present” is an award-winning adventure documentary from 2023 that tells the story of Dimitri Poffé, a 34-year-old French traveler who left his home country to embark on a bicycle journey from Mexico City to Ushuaia, after testing positive for Huntington’s disease. Huntington’s disease is a rare, inherited, and incurable neurodegenerative disorder.
Dimitri’s father died from the disease 20 years ago, and his sister has been experiencing symptoms for 13 years. According to medical studies, Dimitri should begin to show symptoms between the ages of 35 and 40.
During his journey through South America, Dimitri visits researchers, associations, and people affected by the disease, with the aim of raising awareness and sharing a message of hope.
